Mobile Phones
In SwitchBoard Agents can register their cell phones as remote extensions, this helps ensuring calls are answered even when staff aren't physically at their desks, maintaining consistent customer service and preventing missed business opportunities
Mobile extensions
For outgoing calls, you make the call from the web interface, and when you press the Place Call button, the first thing the telephone system will do is connect to your mobile phone and then continue the call by connecting to the external party.

Switchboard Cloud™ will treat calls to your remote extension as if it were a local extension, that is, other agents will be able to call you with just the click of a single button, right next to your name in the system’s user list.

But be careful, you must keep in mind that the costs of calls to your cell phone are imposed by your communications provider, and the bill may vary the more remote extensions you have.

Multiple extensions
In Switchboard Cloud™ you can have more than one extension for a single user, you can have local extensions and remote extensions, and assign your primary extension, or the one that people can contact you at the current time, in a very simple way.
Why is it important for a Phone system to support mobile extensions?
Allowing agents to connect their mobile phones for receiving calls when away from the office is important for several key reasons:

-
Business continuity - Ensuring calls are answered even when staff aren't physically at their desks helps maintain consistent customer service and prevents missed business opportunities.
-
Flexibility for remote/hybrid work - As work arrangements become more flexible, the ability to take business calls from anywhere supports modern work styles without compromising availability.
-
Improved responsiveness - Important clients or urgent matters can be addressed promptly rather than waiting for an agent to return to the office.
-
Extended service hours - Organizations can effectively offer longer service hours without requiring staff to remain in the office, which is especially valuable for businesses operating across time zones.
-
Disaster recovery/business continuity - If office access is disrupted (due to weather, power outages, etc.), business operations can continue with minimal disruption.
-
Employee work-life balance - Staff can leave the office when needed while remaining available for critical calls, reducing the pressure to stay at their desk "just in case."
